Turin: the only talian finalist for the “European Capital of Innovation”

The City of Turin has been selected as the only Italian finalist for the tenth edition of the “European Capital of Innovation” (iCapital) awards, a prestigious competition supported by the European Innovation Council (EIC) as part of the Horizon Europe programme. This recognition not only highlights Turin’s role as a benchmark for innovation and technological experimentation in Europe but also underscores the strength of its ecosystem.

The partnership between the City of Turin and Fondazione Piemonte Innova has been pivotal since the foundation’s inception. This collaboration has continually fostered urban innovation through key projects such as ToMove, CTE Next, and MOTO. Together, we exemplify a commitment to creating an inclusive innovation ecosystem that connects citizens, academia, and the private and public sectors.

The title of “European Capital of Innovation” carries not only prestige but also a prize of €1 million, awarded to the city that excels in opening its governance practices to experimentation and serving as a model of innovation for its citizens.

The winners will be announced on 13th November 2024 in Lisbon during the awards ceremony.
